A photo plan for bad weather
If the forecast turns, the indoor photos can be better than the ones you planned. Here's how to set that up.

Rain is not a disaster for photographs. Flat grey light is soft and forgiving, and it pushes everyone into the same room, which is where the good candids happen anyway.
Scout two indoor spots
Walk the venue and find the two largest windows. Those are your wet-weather portrait locations. Tell your photographer before the day so it's a decision already made rather than a scramble at four o'clock.
Let the room work for you
- Ask the venue to turn practical lamps on early
- Umbrellas photograph beautifully — borrow more than you need
- Cluster the reception drinks near light, not near the bar
The wettest weddings tend to produce the warmest albums.
